Welcome to the Dallas Renaissance Sword Guild! We are a Historical European Martial Arts club that focuses on the arts taught in 1500s Italy, commonly called the Bolognese School of Fencing. The tradition is characterized by its fluid and ostentatious style, paired with a conservative and logical approach to the fight and a strong focus on body mechanics. The art includes swords, shields, bucklers, daggers, wrestling, two handed swords, polearms, and even fighting against a mounted opponent. Easily a lifetime worth of material to cover.
We at DRSG start our training with the Spada Solo (One handed sword). This virtual document is a supplement to the class instruction for the novice level that students receive in class, and is best used as a reminder on what to work on. Please feel free to contact one of the instructors if you have any questions regarding this material.
